This was supposed to be my Monday Instagram post, but somehow it became Wednesday already, oops!
valentines night:
Jack gets in the kitchen exactly once a year to make me a special valentine’s meal. Last week the fancy meal was scallops over corn and zucchini succotash with a white wine jus (yes I said jus… he’s fancy like that)… and then continuing the tradition, we had these. This year, my gift to him was to not photograph the meal, but to sit back, relax, and just enjoy it (while it was still hot).
out & about:
Last Friday we finally made it to Lenoir, the MUCH-talked-about new Austin farm-to-table restaurant that just opened down the block from our house. It comes with a charming back-story of this foodie power couple, (formerly of TRIO and Dai Due), who moved to Austin a few years ago with a dream to open their own restaurant. The space is intimate, the food is local, and the service is impeccable. The well-edited menu offers a choice of 3 small plates from 4 categories: field, sea, land, and dream. My favorite was the chickpea panisse with oyster mushrooms and wilted greens topped with a poached egg. I don’t know what Jack’s favorite was because I was way too involved in my own meal to notice…
I didn’t get a good photo (with my phone in the dark restaurant) but also worthy of a shout-out is the interior which is made up of 90% up-cycled materials, a creation by interior designer Chris McCray (our friend, hi Chris!). I’ll be sure to get a few pics next time we visit…
Thanks a lot for this.
