Say goodbye to sad salads forever! This Greek salad dressing recipe is zingy and bright, and you likely have all the ingredients in your pantry already.
I first made this Greek salad dressing recipe to toss with a traditional Greek Salad, but once I had it on hand, I discovered that it tastes fantastic on so much more! It’s zingy, tangy, and bright – perfect for livening up side salads or making roasted veggies more exciting. The recipe calls for a handful of simple ingredients, so it’s easy to whip up at a moment’s notice. And once you’ve made it, it keeps for up to 5 days in the fridge!
If you ask me, everyone should have this Greek salad dressing recipe in their back pocket. Easy, healthy, and delicious, it’s just as at home on a weeknight grain bowl as it is on a special occasion salad. Try it once, and you’ll make it over and over.

How to Use Greek Dressing
This Greek dressing recipe is really versatile, so have fun experimenting with different ways to use it. Here are a few of my favorites:
- On my easy Greek Salad! I love how the tangy dressing plays off the fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, bell pepper, rich feta cheese, and briny kalamata olives.
- On my Cucumber Tomato Salad. Can you tell that this dressing tastes great with tomatoes and cucumbers?
- On my Italian Chopped Salad. Substitute this Greek salad dressing for the lemon vinaigrette.
- On any green salad. Drizzle it over your favorite greens to make a tasty side salad, or add croutons, roasted chickpeas, hard boiled eggs, and/or chopped fresh veggies to make it a meal.
- On roasted veggies. Spoon it onto roasted cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, fennel, or potatoes after they come out of the oven.
- On grilled veggies. I love drizzling Greek salad dressing over grilled zucchini, potatoes, asparagus, corn, or grilled veggie skewers.
- Or on cooked grains, beans, or lentils. Toss cooked lentils, white beans, farro, or quinoa with Greek dressing and fresh herbs to make a hearty side dish.

It was delicious! I used white wine vinegar, only 2 tbsp, because I don’t like too much vinegar in my dressings. And also I always use honey dijon instead of dijon mustard. I like the little sweetness, I think it balances the sourness nicely. So anyway, I usually don’t like when people change the recipe and then write the review, but here I am:)))) it’s all that i had on hand and it turned out delicious. I’m sure it’s delicious in an original version too. Thank you!
Ha ha, I’m so glad you loved it!
Hello! Unfortunately, red wine vinegar isn’t available in the UAE. Any ideas for substitutes?
You can use white wine vinegar or sherry vinegar if either of those are available.
Too bad that none of those wine vinegars are available, and the price for sherry vinegar is outrageous 🙁 Thank you for your help, though!
What about lemon or lime juice…. sometimes I use both! ?
How about apple cider vinegar?
You can use lemon juice here, or make our lemon vinaigrette instead: https://www.loveandlemons.com/lemon-vinaigrette/
Great dressing! I use it on cucumbers and well all my raw vegetables
I’m so glad you loved it!

We only used 2 TBS of red wine vinegar, and next time I think I’m going to only use 1 1/2 TBS. We’re not a big vinegar family but it was very good. Will be making this again! ??
How many calories in the Greek dressing?
Hi Peggy, I’m sorry, we don’t count calories but you can plug the ingredients into a site like m fitness pal.
Thank you for the excellent recipes!
Do I have to use red wine vinegar?
This is really simple to make and delicious.
How long can I store this in my fridge? Can’t wait to try! Thanks.
Hi Winona, about a week – if the olive oil solidifies, just let it sit at room temp before serving.
Why only a week? All these r super long lasting. I’d say until the garlic goes bad. All these ingradients last months in the fridge. I’m confused.
Or are you saying the whole salad lasts about a week? Opposed to JUST the dressing? I’m honestly here for the dressing recipe. I have been searching for something close to this in vain. Safeway makes a Greek Salad. With a “Milanese Dressing”. I have looked EVERYWHERE for something similar. Then I started looking up Greek salads. I found this and it’s the closest thing to date! I can not wait to try it on EVERYTHING! But curious, how long will JUST the salad dressing last?
Hi Cameron, I typically keep homemade dressings for about 1 week since there aren’t preservatives or stabilizers like there are in store-bought dressings (the garlic is still a fresh ingredient). This recipe is so quick and simple to mix together so I like to err on the safe side. You can give it the sniff test and you might find that it lasts a bit longer.
I hope this helps and that you enjoy it on everything!
Just be cautious garlic goes toxic in oil and you can’t smell it.
I read Paul Newman’s book about his adventure in starting his food product lines. It all began with (all natural) salad dressings. He goes into some detail about how hard it was to find a manufacture/producer. In the beginning he had to settle for using garlic and onion powder to make it shelf and refrigerator stable. You can’t take my word for it but you might want to look into it.
Nice recipe., the proportions are good and the mustard is a must add. But, considering your website nabe I’m surprised you don’t use lemon juice. I used lemon juice and just a dash of wine vinegar and I think it’s good enough to drink.
I bet it would still be great after 2-3 weeks. I sometimes keep my homemade dressings for months… they are better the first month, but they are edible after several months. The vinegar has a preserving effect on things like fresh minced garlic.
This is a great tasting salad. I especially love the addition of fresh mint. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed. My first time using your recipes and was not disappointed. Looks like you have many delicious recipes.
I’m so glad everyone loved it!
This is a beautiful simple dressing. I can use it a lot of ways, salad, marinade, on tuna.
Great recipe. I decreased the oil a bit and used fresh oregano as I had it in my garden. But the recipe is great unchanged as well.
Insanely good! I use this on kitchen sink salads, the ones with everything you can possibly throw in and the dressing manages to tie everything together beautifully!
Tried it today with your Greek salad recipe – it was great!
Wow this is really good!
Simple but delicious. Thank you.
Really good on my other salads as well as on your Greek salad from your other post!!
