Love & Lemons Cooking Club – January!

Join the Love & Lemons Cooking Club Challenge this month! It's easy to enter, and one lucky winner will receive a prize. Find all the details below.

Red lentil soup

Our Cooking Club is a fun way to celebrate the Love & Lemons community of readers. The concept is super simple—each month, I choose a recipe. You make it, and you leave a comment on the recipe’s blog post. At the end of the month, I randomly select one winner to receive a prize.

I love the sense of community that comes from so many people cooking one recipe each month. We’re kicking off our January challenge today with our red lentil soup recipe, and I hope you’ll join in the fun. Here’s how it works:

Join the Love & Lemons Cooking Club

  1. Each month, I choose one seasonal recipe. Sign up for our email list so you’ll know as soon as I share each month’s recipe.
  2. Make that recipe during the month.
  3. Leave a comment on the challenge recipe’s blog post by the end of the month. This time, the deadline is January 31!
  4. For a bonus entry, send a picture of what you made to cookingclub@loveandlemons.com.
  5. For another bonus entry, post your photo on Instagram, tagging @loveandlemons and #loveandlemonscookingclub.

The Prize: A $100 Whole Foods Gift Card!

At the end of the month, I’ll randomly select a winner and share some of your photos. This time, we’re giving away a $100 Whole Foods gift card.

In addition, for every entry we receive, we’ll donate $1 to No Kid Hungry.

January’s Recipe: Red Lentil Soup

January is peak soup season, so it felt right to choose a soup for the club this month! We’re making my NEW red lentil soup recipe.

I’ve been really loving this one lately, and I think you’ll enjoy it too.

  • It calls for basic pantry ingredients.
  • It’s full of fresh veggies and protein-rich lentils.
  • It’s super flavorful, thanks to earthy cumin and a big squeeze of lemon.

I partially blend the soup to give it a lightly creamy texture. It’s so comforting on a cold day!

This recipe is vegan and gluten-free. Serve it with a big salad for a fresh, delicious meal!

Last Month’s Recipe

Last month’s challenge was a little different and so much fun! We did a virtual cookie swap, where everyone could make any of these 23 Christmas Cookie Recipes.

You all chose an amazing variety, and some people made more than one recipe! To name a few…

  • Heidi made the cranberry cookies, gingerbread cookies, sugar cookies, and lemon cookies.
  • Angela made the sugar cookies and peanut butter blossoms.
  • Joyce made the molasses cookies, thumbprint cookies, and Mexican wedding cookies.
  • And Michelle made the snickerdoodles and peanut butter blossoms.

The Mexican wedding cookies were the most popular choice!

Here are some of your photos:

And congrats to our winner, Adrienne!:

Delicious! Everyone in the family loved it. Will definitely double it next time to have leftovers for lunch the next day. 😋

I have been a regular reader and cooked a lot of your recipes over the last few years, but this red lentil soup was one of the best. Just enough to feed 3 adults for dinner and have a serving each for lunch the next day. It was a big hit here in our household, which loves soup. I added about a teaspoon of smoked paprika to give it a nice smoky tone and to boost that red color. Definitely will make this one again!

This soup recipe, like all the others, is perfectly written for taste and comfort! Loved how I had all the ingredients. My husband and 4 year old daughter both LOVED it. It will be on regular rotation this winter
