Happy almost new year! I hope you all have some really fun plans tonight. Jack and I are going to have a pretty quiet night at home (because, omg, it’s freezing out!), but the wine will be flowing, nonetheless. Here are some bottles we’ve been enjoying recently. All are under $16(!), and are available at wine-carrying Whole Foods Stores.
Globerati Sauvignon Blanc (pictured), $7.99
From the Central Valley of Chile, this zesty white has hints of grapefruit and green apple. (Also, a super cute bottle design).
pair with:
Avocado Pomegranate Crostini
Pear & Fennel Salad
Veggie Ceviche
Pizzolato Pinot Grigio (pictured), $9.99
An organically grown Italian white with flavors of stone fruit. This one’s light, but not too sweet. A food-friendly wine that would pair well with seafood and vegetables.
pair with:
Seared Cauliflower Steaks
Roasted Spaghetti Squash with Chickpeas & Kale
Pear Pizza with Fried Sage
Leyenda del Castillo Rioja, $10.99
With bright, sunny fruit flavors like ripe cherries, this Spanish red has a lingering, well-balanced finish.
pair with:
Tomato Chickpea Coconut Soup
Many-Veggie Vegetable Soup
Vegan Stuffed Shells
H&G Priorat, $14.99
This one’s our favorite of the group. It’s a smooth Spanish red with dark fruit flavors. A versatile food-friendly wine.
pair with:
Mini Sweet Potato Pizzas
Chickpea Saffron Stew
Roasted Chickpea Ratatouille
Charles and Charles Merlot (pictured), $13.99
A hearty full bodied rich & elegant red. (total bargain).
pair with:
Butternut Squash Walnut Sage Pasta
Creamy Polenta & Mushrooms
Butternut Squash Soup
Ring in the new year with something sparkly:
Presto Prosecco $10.99
This one’s my go-to sparkler, (a great value for the price). Not too sweet not too dry, flavors of orange blossom & honey.
De Chanceny Cremant de Loire Brut Rose $15.99
This pale pink sparkling rosé is made from cabernet franc grapes with bright, citrus aromas and green apple, lemon and cranberry flavors.
Special thanks to the Whole Foods wine team who kindly gave us a bunch of wines to try.
Wow this is an amazing blog i just love http://top-security-services.blogspot.com/
Hey that was a fun read. I like the pairings. Thinking about that right now in my life with events.
Nice post, thank you. I like the prices of your recommendations 🙂
It’s nice to see some one other than me recommending Crémant! I just did a post on my blog including Crémant. I’ve only ever had some from outside of France while living in Europe. That sounds like a lovely food friendly sparkler. Oncer my town gets a Whole Foods (in march) I’ll certainly buy it if they have it!
Spanish wines are my favorite! Adding the two reds to my must-try list.
