Irish Ale Cocktail

Happy St. Paddy’s day!

This one came about all because of these silly little shamrock glasses that I was determined to use this year (last year, I forgot).

Awhile back, I went through a glassware thrifting phase. I didn’t notice until I got home that these had little shamrocks on them. Bummed about why someone would put shamrocks on such otherwise-cute glassesI stuck them up on a high high shelf.

So last night we celebrate with this simple little cocktail in the once-a-year celebratory glasses. I have to say – I’m not usually the whiskey person in the family, but mixing it with ginger beer was kind of life changing.

And not ginger ale – there’s a difference. We happened to have this kind which is made from real ginger. It’s not overly syrupy tasting and it has that wonderful spicy kick that only comes from actual ginger and not “ginger flavor.”

I think I discovered a new favorite, all thanks to the little accidental shamrock glasses.

I love whiskey gingers! Having them with ginger beer sounds intriguing, I’ve only had ginger beer with rum but I do love that spicy gingery kick the ginger beer has…definitely will try this

  4. I am not a whiskey person, either, but absolutely adore ginger beer. This looks like a great way to ease into the whiskey world.

I feel your pain when it comes to thrifting something only to discover a detail that renders it pretty much useless 364 days out of the year! Why must people “decorate” great glassware? WHY? Anyway, good on you for making hay while the sun shines!

I like it… “hay while the sun shines.” I’ll have to start using that one 🙂

  6. Wow…this looks amazing! And how perfect that you had these glasses. It makes it all the more festive. Sometimes I wish I had collected more holiday-themed items like this over time…but guess I can just start now! 🙂 Thought this was so fun and pretty that I posted it on our Delicious Karma Facebook page. I’m sure others will enjoy it as much as I did!
